07.02.2014 - Kölnmesse back in the black

No more red for Koelnmesse, which not only generated record turnover of € 280 million in the business year just ended but even turned in a profit again – the first since 2006. In the coming years it expects to post turnover in excess of € 250 million, with around € 300 million pencilled in for 2015. The resulting profit is to be ploughed into expansion and refurbishment of the exhibition grounds. Instrumental in Koelnmesse’s successful performance were events and trade fair participations abroad. In 2013 total stand area grew by 12%, the number of exhibitors by 13% and attendance by 15%. By 2016 the contribution to group turnover made by business from events abroad is projected to increase to 15%. Target markets are China, India, Russia, Brazil, the Middle East and Turkey. At present the company organises approximately 30 trade fairs abroad. (sos)
