The story of a global giant

Display International, Würselen, in association with GTP Architekten, Düsseldorf, have designed a permanent showroom for the Saudi Arabian petrochemical corporation Sabic at its headquarters in Riyadh. The brief was to convey the complex world of petrochemicals to visitors in the form of high-end infotainment. The showroom is in the process of opening. In recent years Sabic has emerged as the biggest petrochemical group in the Middle East.
The Germans concept takes the form of a tale that can be experienced three-dimensionally, making the dramaturgy of the Sabic story accessible to a highly diversified target group through the creation of an exciting and emotion-charged atmosphere, sophisticated lighting, intelligent exhibits and new display technology. Guests will soon enter the darkened room through a tunnel relating the origins of the discovery of oil in 1938 in images, sound and with real sand. From the old era of fishing villages down to the high-tech present, the rise of a global giant is depicted in magical "speaking" books and gates shrouded in smoke that creak as they open.
The unique desert nation proudly presents itself. Playful interactivity is made possible by a modern transponder system that engages with visitors profiles. Their language, names and faces are recognized again, providing the company with important information on potential clients. Starry firmaments and gigantic molecular structures sparkle, an extruder dispenses a personally signed gift for the guest, and a waterfall projection and recycling turntable document how Sabic puts environmental awareness, safety standards and ecological aspects into practice.
The entire outfitting was produced in Germany and installed by Display International specialists. Bielefeld-based agency Sandmann Consulting delivered the content and technical media staging.
