Editorial m+a report No. 2 / 2006 from March 24th, 2006

Plagiarism is an issue really worth addressing. Particularly for trade fairs, brand and product piracy is a very hot topic - after all, tradeshows are platforms for creativity, innovation and achievement (and themselves brand values). But for that very reason they are a paradise for bootleggers, people who prefer to copy (or have copied) rather than to order.
The demand for information on copyrighting designs or brands in Germany or the European Union is enormous. As Messe Frankfurt is currently discovering from the huge response with which its initiative "Messe Frankfurt against Copying" is meeting among exhibitors and visitors. At the spring fair Ambiente alone more than 1,000 preliminary leaflets and brochures were handed out and over 250 more detailed consultations held. More on this beginning on page 9.
Those who think new exhibition centres are burgeoning only in Asia should cast a glance at Italy or Spain. They are among the fastest-growing exhibition markets in Europe. Exhibition companies are seeking further to boost their turnover with massive investment in their sites and in new shows. Turn to page 21 to find out what's happening there and in France.
Face-to-face communication is the big asset for tradeshows and exhibitions. People wishing to talk and network about products and solutions enjoy doing so in an informal setting and congenial atmosphere. This is why lounge-like furnishings are being given a greater share of exhibition stands in recent years. See for yourself, beginning on page 58, that the selection of new lounge furniture is varied and inviting. Enjoy some informative reading!muareport-redaktion@dfv.de
