More innovative in materials

The Dutch are represented at most international events, and not just as exhibitors and visitors. Dutch achievements in trade fair contracting are making waves. "The Netherlands is a small country and was always forced to operate internationally", is how Dieter Straub, head of the German office of the Dutch company Gielissen GmbH, Eindhoven, explains Dutch omnipresence. "With the large number of foreigners living there, most Dutch speak several languages and therefore think and act internationally."
The industrious Dutch also have a reputation for creativity: "I think maybe Dutch ideas for materials and the presentation of exhibits are more innovative", Straub ponders. One difference from German trade fair contracting, the expert emphasises, is that "in Germany a lot is being built with systems again." He puts this down to the low cost per square metre: a trend that is also picking up in the Netherlands. However, so far Dutch trade fair contractors have worked conventionally, without using systems.
The Dutch talent for quickly adapting to the client due to their international character is another difference he sees from German trade fair contractors. For example, contrary to the practice in Germany, his Dutch parent company permanently employs "a sizeable team of site managers and installers for erection and tear-down".
The offer from Gielissen ranges from world-wide full service trade fair contracting, shop, museum and event installation, organisation of events, such as AGMs, to roadshows.
