Fresh perspectives

The over 400-m2 stand of Merten at Light + Building in Frankfurt captivated many visitors with its eye-catching mirror design.

Making an experience of solutions for intelligent buildings was the goal of this trade fair appearance. The technically challenging stand architecture was built by mac based on a design by the Urquiola + Berghinz studio.
In consultation with the customer and trade fair service provider, the Milan designer created large-volume cubes, in which various spatial situations were represented as a model - an office, a hotel room, a detached house, a flat in an old building. The staged scenes were based on the periscope principle: the cubes were bounded at the top by large-format mirrors that reproduced the spatial situation at a 45° angle. The mirror images reflected in this way were visible from afar and acted as a strong visual magnet on trade fair visitors. Merten now wants to use the concept for smaller trade fairs and exhibitions.
