Editorial m+a report No. 4 / 2005 from 14.06.2005

Doubts about the marketing tool appear to have evaporated, as trade fairs in Germany stage a comeback. Last year they almost matched their 2001 level, and the opening months of 2005 are setting a positive mood. Almost without exception, exhibitions are notching up higher attendance - across all industries - and underpinning their importance as a marketing instrument. Even in more stable times, though, exhibition organisers will hopefully continue striving to improve, stepping up their customer focus.
2 - and not just in tourist or culinary terms. That the Swiss are a very mercantile people, and highly innovative in certain fields, is especially striking when you look at the local exhibition scene. Don't forget to take along your passport - there's still a proper Swiss border. p. 18
