Editorial m+a report No. 3 / 2005 from 27.04.2005

Many Asian exhibitors are annoyed that at the insistence of European manufacturers they are often placed on the margins of an exhibition site, or indeed somewhere else entirely. The Chinese in particular have had enough of this. "Since we're not getting sufficient exhibition space to showcase ourselves adequately at the established fairs, we're staging a show of our own," says Sha Kezhong from the CCPIT. The message is loud and clear. The Chinese are coming. Our report begins on page 8.

Another country is increasingly emerging from China's shadow: India. Many economic experts rate the subcontinent as the growth market to top all others - after China, that is. Mindful of this, the Indians are acting with the appropriate self-assurance. And well they may, with economic expansion in the region of six percent. Our focus on India begins on page 20. Yet another country is in the limelight in this issue: the United States. Off to America, beginning on page 14.

The Marketing Events Special beginning on page 50 devotes considerable space to presentation of the Art Directors Club ADC Awards. It has taken the creative club a long time to open its doors and usher in the new categories Spatial Communication and Events, which met with widespread acclaim in Berlin. The present-day communication landscape would no longer be conceivable without 3D communication and events.
