29.07.2015 - Still in the red

In 2014, Deutsche Messe strengthened its core business, capital goods fairs, and continued to make headway in overseas markets; the company has a broader base now with new events providers, “and our progress in digital business is confirmed,” said the chairman of the management board, Wolfram von Fritsch, on presentation of the accounts on July 6, 2015 in Hanover. The results of the growth and efficiency programme 400pro represent the company’s direction. “Our figures for turnover and profit in financial year 2014 lie clearly above those for the comparative years of 2010 and 2012,” said von Fritsch. Deutsche Messe closed the year with a turnover of 280.6 million euros (2012: 251.3 million euros; 2010: 211.8 million euros). The company reports an annual deficit of - 9.6 million euros (2012: -19.8 million euros; 2010: -27.6 million euros). Von Fritsch: “Above all, due to marked fluctuations in exchange rates, we have not been able to completely meet the profit targets we set ourselves; however, by increasing earnings power we still managed to go beyond our profit aims and are coming ever closer to our goal of operating profitably on an ongoing basis from 2017 to be able to finance investments from our own resources.” Based on the current planning status, Deutsche Messe expects a turnover of more than 320 million euros and profit of more than five million euros for the financial year 2015.
